Stages Theatre Company Exceeds $1 Million in Ticket Sales

By: Jul. 28, 2011

Stages Theatre Company (STC), the professional children's theatre based in Hopkins, Minn., has achieved a massive milestone in its 27-year history by exceeding $1 million in ticket sales during the 2010-11 season. "For me, it is a milestone that validates the artistic work we do. It is both amazingly exciting and rewarding, and a little scary all at the same time," says Artistic Director Sandy Boren-Barrett.

Several productions made STC's top-10 list including "If You Give a Moose a Muffin," "Pinkalicious" and "Junie B. in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells," which became the top-selling production of all time. "With the financial stability this achievement provides, even more focus can be applied to creating work that carries all the quality and excellence we can deliver," says Managing Director John Montilino.

More than 130,000 youth and their families came to see productions at STC, attended educational workshops and classes, and were taught through residency programs off-site during the 2010-11 season. "Organizationally it is solely about the loyalty of our patrons. The encouragement they show with their comments, tickets and feedback let us know we are on track serving them, and the mission of STC. The dedication of our amazing staff, families and participants is being rewarded by this milestone, and we celebrate it with everyone," says Boren-Barrett.

Stages Theatre Company was founded in 1984 and since then has grown to become one of the largest professional theatres for young audiences in the country. We engage young artists with themes relevant to their lives and involve them in creating magical works featuring young people in meaningful roles. Through theatrical productions, workshops, conservatory classes and other outreach programs, Stages Theatre Company annually serves more than 130,000 youth and their families.
