BMO Harris Bank Broadway at the Marcus Center Series will bring the highly anticipated Milwaukee premiere of War Horse on January 7-12, 2014. The Marcus Center is teaming up with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office Mounted Patrol to help support the organization.

A portion of any ticket purchased through www.marcuscenter.org/mcaccess with the group code: mountedpatrol will help fund the Mounted Patrol. This fundraising will help the Mounted Patrol provide stabling and care for the unit.

The Mounted Patrol will be at theater prior to the show at select performances of War Horse during the one - week engagement. The patrol will be located outside on the south side of the Marcus Center on Water Street. Specially trained officers will be on hand to answer questions and will showcase the unit. The horses offer a wonderful opportunity for children of all ages to enjoy the presence of the officers. During the warmer weather months, the horses will often be seen on the lakefront, various county parks and at special events. Not only do they provide friendly presence to Milwaukee County but also the horses allow the officers to quickly respond to law enforcement needs.

The tour of War Horse, which was adapted from the book by Morpurgo by Nick Stafford, is directed by Bijan Sheibani based on the original Tony Award-winning direction by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, and presented in association with Handspring Puppet Company. At the heart of the show are life-sized puppets which bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to thrilling life on stage.

In addition to Best Play, War Horse received Tony Awards for Best Direction of a Play (Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris), Best Scenic Design of a Play (Rae Smith), Best Lighting Design of a Play (Paule Constable), and Best Sound Design of a Play (Christopher Shutt). A Special Tony Award was given to Handspring Puppet Company for their integral work on the production.
