Two Muses Theatre Offers Workshop Series on Auditioning for Musical Theatre With Toni Babineau

Two Muses Theatre, the new professional theatre in West Bloomfield, Michigan, announces "Auditioning for the Musical Theatre Workshop" series every Saturday in April from 1:00-3:00 pm. Conducted in a Master Class format, the series will be led by Toni Babineau, AEA. Ms. Babineau's professional theatre experience includes leading roles on National Tour and Off Broadway; Audrey in The Little Shop of Horrors at the Orpheum Theatre in New York, directed by Howard Ashman; Peron's Mistress in the National Tour of Evita, directed by Harold Prince, and numerous additional regional and local roles.

The need for an auditioning workshop was highlighted recently during the unified general auditions held March 3^rd and 4^th, where over one hundred professional and amateur performers strutted their stuff. While some performers stood out, many did not, leaving talent scouts with a negative impression.

"It's simply not enough to have a good voice," Ms. Babineau explains. "The key to successful auditioning is finding a way to differentiate yourself from the other performers in a positive and intelligent way – directors look for those performers that bring a unique quality to the production." 

The workshop will offer participants guidance in music selection and interpretation, and will include vocal exercises and critiques of individual performances. Particular attention will be given to the unique qualities of the performer, with song suggestions for future auditions. "At the end of this series, each performer will have the tools and confidence to perform their absolute best."
