SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS Continues at The Sauk

Song and dance will fill the stage at The Sauk, Hillsdale County's community theatre, for one more weekend of performances.

The Sauk's production of "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" opened last weekend with two sold-out performances. Performances continue this weekend on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday, June 25 at 3 p.m.

Bursting with the rambunctious energy of the original MGM film, the musical tells the story of Milly, a young bride living in the 1850s Oregon wilderness. Her plan to civilize and marry off her six rowdy brothers-in-law to ensure the success of her own marriage backfires when the brothers, in their own enthusiasm, kidnap six women from a neighboring town to be their brides.

Featuring hit songs from the film including "Bless Your Beauiful Hide," "Sobbin' Women" and "Lonesome Polecat," the stage version includes news songs such as "Where Were You," "We've Gotta Make It Through the Winter" and "I Married Seven Brothers."

The cast is headed by Luke Bahr (last seen at The Sauk as Valjean in "Les Miserable") as Adam and Sauk newcomer Brittanie Essen as Milly. The brothers are portrayed by Jacob Lee, Tyler Wilson, Jordan Hayes-Devloo, Brock Hayes, Joe Weatherwax and Brendan Pratt. The brides are Dawn VanKampen, Brietta Allen, Michelle Trippett, Cara Murray, Hayley Wisely and Meighan Roe. Nate Baker, Kaleb Matthews, Noah Heckenlively, Dylan Collier, Brad Hayes and Xander Sallows are the suitors. The cast also includes Patrick Heckenlively, Rickie Freeman, Tim Ambrose, Tanya Briix, Connor Ambrose, Marshall Baker, Charissa Briix, Nathaniel Birzer, Natthamol Gaosomboon, Kathryn Oberlin, Allison Cleveland, Mary Lou Giberson, Iva Hendrickson, Makaylia Kramic, Kiara Kopp and Claire Yaniqa.

The production is directed by Trinity Bird with musical direction by Kristi Gautsche. Elizabeth McNair is choreographer. The production team also includes Jan Mackie (producer), Gay Shaw (vocal coach), Kendra Bonjernoor and Chloe Cryderman (stage management), David Griffiths (set design), Kristin Hood (light design), Geremy Burns (sound design), Patty Spence (costume design), DeB Smith (properties) and Martha Warriner (hair).
