Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts is pleased to welcome, Alonzo King LINES Ballet who will be performing, "Biophony" Sunday, March 13th at 3:00 PM.

Continuing our commitment to bring the most innovative and genre-busting Dance Companies from around the world, San Francisco's Alonzo King LINES Ballet leaps to uncharted heights with bold new dance innovations that break the mold of what ballet can be. LINES Ballet thrives on collaboration, pairing music from all over the globe with King's extraordinary dancers who have earned a fiercely devoted public. Alonzo King's choreography dazzles audiences by digging into the mysteries of movement and bringing honesty and urgent spirituality to the stage.

In addition to its biannual home seasons, the Company enjoys tremendous success abroad at venues including the Venice Biennale, Montpellier Danse, Maison de la Danse, the Wolfsburg Festival, the Edinburgh Festival, the Spoleto Festival, and Monaco Dance Forum.

Alonzo King LINES Ballet is a celebrated contemporary ballet company that has been guided since 1982 by the unique artistic vision of Alonzo King. Alonzo King understands ballet as a science - founded on universal, geometric principles of energy and evolution - and continues to develop a new language of movement from its classical forms and techniques. Music Hall History

Built in 1928 by Matilda Dodge Wilson, Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts is a cultural gem in Detroit's entertainment crown, and has been presenting 88 years of legendary artists and performances from Flo Ziegfeld and Follies and WC Fields, to Billie Holliday, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, DEVO, The Pretenders and Marcel Marceau to name but a few of the diverse performers who have graced our stage. It has been home to both the DSO (The famous radio broadcasts of "The Ford Hour" were performed here) and the Opera Theater as well, not to also mention that we were the first theater fit for Cinerama in Michigan.
