MotorCity Casino Hotel is proud to welcome Cécile McLorin Salvant and the Aaron Dihel Trio to Sound Board on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. Opening will be Jamison Ross.

Cécile McLorin Salvant performs unique interpretations of unknown and scarcely recorded jazz and blues compositions. She focuses on a theatrical portrayal of the jazz standard and composes music and lyrics that she sings in French, her native language, as well as in Spanish. In August 2012, Cécile recorded WomanChild for the Mack Avenue Label with Aaron Diehl, Rodney Whitaker, Herlin Riley and James Chirillo. WomanChild was nominated for the 2014 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album. Her 2015 album For One To Love was nominated for the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album.

Pianist Aaron Diehl is one of the most sought after jazz virtuosos, consistently playing with what The New York Times describes as "melodic precision, harmonic erudition, and elegant restraint." Diehl's meticulously thought-out performances, collaborations, and compositions are a leading force in today's generation of jazz contemporaries, spearheading a distinct union of traditional and fresh artistry. Ross was nominated for the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album.
