MARY'S WEDDING to Play Yellow Barn Theatre, 7/14-17

MARY'S WEDDING, by Stephen Massicotte, will be presented for a limited engagement this summer. Directed by Karen Sheridan, the show will run at Ann Arbor's Yellow Barn Theatre July 14-17, 2016.

Thunder, lightning, and explosions shake Mary's dreams on the night before her wedding in 1920. She relives events of six years earlier, beginning with meeting Charlie (and his horse) in a barn. But Mary and Charlie's young charming love quickly crackles as the world collapses into a brutal war. Memories overlap and cross-Atlantic letters string their love through muddy and tumultuous times. Together, their hearts gallop to the beat of running horses as they navigate through fear, regret, and survival.

Stephen Massicotte's epic has captivated audiences worldwide. In 2002, MARY'S WEDDING premiered at Alberta Theatre Projects' playRites Festival and won the 2000 Alberta Playwriting Competition, the 2002 Betty Mitchell Award for Best New Play, and the 2003 Gwen Pharis Ringwood Award for Drama at the Alberta Literary Awards. Stephen's other award-winners include Looking After Eden, Pervert, and The Boy's Own Jedi Handbook.

Karen Sheridan directs Anna Marck as Mary and Joshua Steckelberg as Charlie in a brand new edition of the play.
