Joel Fluent Greene's 5th Anniversary of 'A MAN CAN CHANGE' Set for the Wright Museum

It's the five-year anniversary of Detroit's hit poetry/live music series, "A Man Can Change: The Words, Music, Art & Stories of 7 Men," on Friday, December 23rd at The GM Theater at The Charles Wright Museum of African American History.

Curated & Hosted by Joel Fluent Greene and featuring a very special opening performance by the legendary Jessica Care Moore, as well as an incredible musical set by Collective Peace that you won't want to miss.

Joel Fluent Greene is a Detroit based Poet, Author and Promoter. He was the long running host at Detroit's iconic, Cafe Mahogany poetry nights, which was a popular hub for creatives during the late 90s. As a performance poet and host, Fluent has shared the stage with acts and personalities as diverse as The Roots, Pharrell Williams, The Last Poets, Talib Kweli, Ledisi, Big Sean, Saul Williams, The Detroit Red Wings and many more. He has also acted as Master of Ceremonies at events for Chrysler Corporation, Compuware, 100 Black Men of America, Inside-Out Detroit and Music Hall Center. He was also director of Music Hall Center's Words and Rhythms of the D outreach program for 4 years and has held workshops and performances in over 50 schools in the Metro Detroit area. In 2008 in collaboration with African American Consumer Market (AACM) McDonald's franchises, 160,000+ "Words and Rhythms of the D" books were distributed to McDonald's restaurants showcasing the poetry of young adults. In 2012, Joel was honored with the prestigious Spirit of Detroit Award for his many years of commitment and leadership. Joel is currently producer & host of Mahogany @ the Museum, and in November of 2015 released his second collection of poetry, Poems of Bungalow & Concrete.
