Grosse Pointe's Young Actors' Studio for Teens Kicks Off 11/14

Grosse Pointe Theatre is offering a five-week introductory course for aspiring young actors beginning November 14, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The Young Actors' Studio is now enrolling teens aged 14 to 18 years. The class will be held at the Grosse Pointe Theatre rehearsal facility at 315 Fisher Road in Grosse Pointe. The registration fee is $50 for children of Grosse Pointe Theatre members and $75 for all others. GPT's Young Actors' Studio will engage students in an intensive acting experience. Highlights of the program include concentration skills, audition techniques, physical and vocal preparation, character analysis, acting is reacting, improvisation, scene study, and other exercises. Veteran teacher Harry Burkey will introduce the Studio concept of acting for stage and screen. Videotaping will be used and each student will be given a private session with the instructor to assess their work. No experience is necessary.

Grosse Pointe Theatre, a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) organization, is a community theatre which draws its members from throughout southeast Michigan. Membership is open to all persons aged 18 and above. Contributions to Grosse Pointe Theatre are tax deductible.
