Freedom Hill Amphitheatre Sets Grand Opening for Summer 2013
Freedom Hill Amphitheatre, one of the region's premier outdoor entertainment venues, which has been closed since 2009, is set to open to the public on June 1, 2013. The announcement was made jointly at a press event today by Freedom Hill Amphitheatre ownership/management, Joe Vicari of Andiamo Restaurant Group and Tom Celani of Luna Entertainment, and Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel.
The 7,200-person capacity venue (4,200 seats and 3,000 lawn spaces), will receive at least $2 million in upgrades prior to the opening including technology, cosmetic improvements and an overall enhanced customer service experience. Located on Metro Parkway near Schoenherr in Sterling Heights, Mich., Freedom Hill formerly drew patrons from throughout the region and provided significant economic benefits to area businesses.
"It's rewarding to see a valuable community resource like Freedom Hill Amphitheatre being put back into public use," said Hackel. He continued, "We see the return of Freedom Hill to be a win for everyone. The public will have greater access to national entertainment opportunities, and local businesses will benefit from more customers coming to the area."
"I'm proud to be partnering with Joe Vicari on the opening of Freedom Hill, and look forward to the exciting opportunities ahead," added Celani. "Freedom Hill Amphitheatre will quickly establish itself as a must-attend venue during the summer months in metro Detroit."
AEG Live, one of the leading sports and entertainment presenters in the world, has been contracted as the booking agent for Freedom Hill. Among the first "must-attend" events at the new venue will be a June 13, 2013 concert by Grammy Award-winning country music trio Lady Antebellum.
Approximately 30-40 events and appearances from June through September 2013 are currently being booked by AEG Live. Funfest Productions, Inc. will manage Freedom Hill's day-to-day operations. Based in Mt. Clemens, Mich., Funfest Productions is the creators of well-known Michigan festivals and concerts, including the annual Macomb County Stars & Stripes Festival, which will also be hosted by Freedom Hill for the first time from June 28 - 30, 2013.
Hackel, Celani and Vicari were joined in today's announcement by AEG Live Senior Vice President, Joe Litvag. The private event for media and local community leaders was held at Andiamo Celebrity Showroom in Warren.
