WLRN Radio Theater to Make Palm Beach Debut in Delray Beach, 3/3

By: Feb. 09, 2016

Old School Square is pleased to announce a new partnership with WLRN Public Media to debut WLRN Radio Theater in Palm Beach County at the Crest Theatre.

Three plays will be presented by the Arts Radio Network Theatre Project in March, June and July of 2016. The first play, "It Happened One Night," is Thursday, March 3rd. Audience should be seated by 6:45 p.m. for the 7 p.m. start time. It will be broadcast live on WLRN 91.3 and also recorded for future broadcast. In this play, a spoiled heiress, running away from her family, is helped by a man who is actually a reporter in need of a story. A Talk Back and Meet & Greet Reception will follow the performance.

The Crest Theatre is located on the Old School Square campus at 51 N. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach 33444. Tickets are $50 and are available atOldSchoolSquare.org or by calling the Box Office at 561-243-7922.

From The Mercury Theatre to A Prairie Home Companion, the radio drama is a uniquely American art form, and one of this country's most beloved. During the 1930s through 50s, live performances broadcast over the radio were a part of everyday life. Now, Old School Square is proud to bring back the radio theater experience with live performances on stage. See what it takes to make a play come alive on the radio as some of South Florida's best actors take on multiple roles and are supported by a production team creating sound effects and encouraging audience interaction.
