The Lyric Theatre Presents DIXIE'S TUPPERWARE PARTY, 2/2 & 2/3

By: Jan. 27, 2010

The Lyric Theatre will present Dixie's Tupperware Party on February 2nd and 3rd, 2010.

It all started with a candy dish. Dixie Longate, just out of prison and looking for a way to support her three children (Wynona, Dwayne and Absorbine, Jr.), was fascinated by what she thought was a crystal bowl on her parole officer's desk. It was actually Tupperware, and so began Dixie's inspired climb from her Mobile, Alabama trailer park to unparalleled success as the nation's #1 Tupperware salesperson.

"I started selling the fantastic plastic crap in 2001, and I have never had so much fun drinking for free in my life!" says Dixie. She promises you a great time, too. The show is filled with outrageous stories, games, giveaways, audience participation and surprises - because with Dixie in the house, the party is never dull.

The show really is a Tupperware party and you can actually buy Tupperware at the show. Dixie will even helpfully recommend alternative uses for various products. (Who couldn't use a sippy cup for their dirty martini?)

Dixie took her party to the New York International Fringe Festival in 2004, and later had a successful off-Broadway run. (She even earned a Drama Desk nomination in 2007/08 for Outstanding Solo Performance. Shut up!) She was a hit at the Lyric last year, and is returning as part of her national tour.

This production contains adult material. The show will perform February 2 and 2:00pm and 7:00pm and February 3 at 2:00pm and 7:00pm. For tickets and more information visit www.lyrictheatre.com/.
