Direct from Buenos Aires, Tango Buenos Aires will perform the Fire and Passion of Tango on Saturday, March 26 at 8 p.m.

The Argentine Tango is one of the most provoking and evocative dance styles, and Tango Buenos Aires has become known throughout the Americas, Europe and the Far East as the most authentic and uncompromising representative of the art. A mixture of African and Spanish antecedents, the Argentine Tango also has a strong influence from the Argentine milonga which is sung by Gauchos, the Argentine "cowboys." Danced in Argentina for nearly 200 years, the Tango began as an ill-famed movement, being very fashionable in dance halls, cabarets, and among the more risqué entertainers. Now one of Argentina's great cultural exports, the Tango has expanded mental and moral evolution of the city that created it, suffering many rejections along the way to becoming the very symbol of the city of Buenos Aires. Tango Buenos Aires has been touring internationally for more than 20 years, bringing the romance, heat and sensuality of the Tango to audiences across the globe. In Fire and Passion of Tango the stunning choreography of Susana Rojo presents a magnificent dance narrative-an age-old story of love and seduction.

Susana started her professional Tango dance career in the 80's, becoming one of the first Argentinean Tango performers to tour internationally. She has worked with many of the great Tango masters, as well as studied other forms of dance. In the 1990's she joined the company Tango Sessions, directed by Osvaldo Requena and produced by D.A.N.I.E.L. Artists, performing in countries never visited before by a Tango company like China, Japan, Malaysia, Finland. In 2006, she gave the choreographic direction for TV Show "Por Siempre Tango." Rojo has also been Jury in several occasions for the International Tango Championship in Buenos Aires. She danced for the film Evita, directed by Alan Parker, done national tours and directed and choreographed Tango and Folklore shows for Disney in Argentina. Rojo's "...repeatedly crafted swirling, fast-paced tapestries of movement, laced with proud postures and sensual couplings," (The Washington Post ) show the Tango at it's best.
