Surfside Players Presents GREASE

By:

Surfside Players are set to present GREASE featuring a book, music, and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey

Directed and Choreographed by Christopher D. Kirby
Musical Direction by Lisa Hill

Here is Rydell High's senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding T-Birds and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking Pink Ladies in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head "greaser" Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their "Summer Nights" as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as "Greased Lightnin'", "It's Raining on Prom Night", and "Alone at the Drive-In Movie," recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. An 8-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals along with innumerable school and community productions place this among the world's most popular musicals.

Now the ORIGINAL high school musical is coming to Surfside, with choreography by Renaissance Arts Academy artistic director Christopher D. Kirby, and musical direction by McNair Middle School choral director Lisa Hill. GREASE will be presented at Surfside Playhouse (Take A1A to Fifth Street South) on January 20 - February 5, three weekends on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and active military, $15 for students. Caution: Contains strong language and adult situations.

GREASE is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. (www.samuelfrench.com) with songs from the Broadway revival presented by special arrangement with Warner/Chappell Music and Crompton Songs.

Surfside is located in Cocoa Beach, FL, an hour’s drive east of Orlando. Take 520 or 528 eastbound to A1A southbound, or take Pineda, Eau Gallie, or 192 eastbound to A1A northbound. Drive into Cocoa Beach, and turn west on Fifth Street South. For more information, call (321) 783-3127 or visit www.surfsideplayers.com.
