Surfside Players Host Auditions for Neil Simon's RUMORS

By: Dec. 30, 2011

Surfside Players announces auditions for Neil Simon's RUMORS, directed by Janet Rubin.

At a large, tastefully appointed Sneden's Landing townhouse, the Deputy Mayor has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to experience a severe attack of Farce. Gathering for their tenth wedding anniversary, the host lies bleeding in the other room and his wife is nowhere in sight. His lawyer, Ken and wife Chris must get "the story" straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusions and miscommunications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.

Director Janet Rubin, retired Saginaw Valley State University drama professor, known around Brevard county for her productions of The Compleat Wrks of Wllm Shkspr (Abridged) and Neil Simon's Chapter Two, will be directing this rare farce by New York's most legendary playwright. We need 5 women and 5 men of all ages with high energy and excellent comic timing.

Auditions are January 15 and 16 (Sunday and Monday) at 7:00pm in the lobby of Surfside Playhouse. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Performances will be March 2 - 16. Presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. (www.samuelfrench.com)

Surfside is located in Cocoa Beach, FL, an hour’s drive east of Orlando. Take 520 or 528 eastbound to A1A southbound, or take Pineda, Eau Gallie, or 192 eastbound to A1A northbound. Drive into Cocoa Beach, and turn west on Fifth Street South. For more information, call (321) 783-3127 or visit www.surfsideplayers.com.
