As of this week, the Stage Door Theatre will begin occupancy at their new home in Miami Beach, at the Byron Carlyle Theatre. As a mainstay theatre company in South Florida for the last 19 years, the Stage Door is considered one of the most successful and stable arts organizations in the tri-county area. The company is known for productions of large scale musicals, and is the proud recipient of the Carbonell Award for Best Production of a Musical in 2011.

"As a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to the performing arts," says Producing Artistic Director, Derelle Bunn," our mission includes the preservation of Musical Theatre, and we intend to continue that Stage Door tradition at the Byron Carlyle.

The Byron Carlyle was purchased by the city in 2002. Following a 1.7 million dollar renovation, The City of Miami Beach unvieled an exquisite performing arts jewel, the Byron Carlye Theatre. The theatre will serve as a cultural centerpiece for the Miami Beach community.

"We are delighted the city has entrusted the Byron Carlyle Theatre to the Stage Door. We embrace the challenges ahead of us, and look forward to being a destination for both residents and tourists in the area," said David Torres, Founder and Executive Producer.

The first show to open will be "Suds, the Rockin' 1960's Musical" that was a long running success last year in their location in Coral Springs. It will be a "soft opening" with a grand opening planned for the fall.

The Byron Carlyle is located at 500 71st Street in Miami Beach, Fl.  Watch this column for further information and developments.
