Miami Dade College's North Campus theater department will perform the Stephen Sondheim masterpiece, Into the Woods. INTO THE WOODS is the musical, that beat The Phantom of The Opera for the TONY award for best music and lyrics. It also won the best book Tony Award for author James Lapine. Three years ago, INTO THE WOODS, was revived on Broadway and won the TONY award for Best Revival of a Musical. Miami Dade College's North Campus theater department will perform Into the Woods, a musical that masterfully blends classical American fairytales Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jack & The Beanstalk and Rapunzel with a fresh tale about a baker and his wife and their attempt to correct a curse they believe prevents them from having children. In an attempt to reverse the curse the baker and his wife reach an agreement with a witch so she can acquire a potion to get them a child. The show will debut at the William and Joan Lehman Theatre, 11380 N.W. 27th Avenue, Building 5 on Friday, February 17, 2006 at 8 p.m. Additional play dates include Saturday, February 18, 2006, at 8 p.m., Sunday, February 19, 2006 at 2 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2006 and Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 8 p.m. and Friday, February 24, 2006 at 11 a.m. Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for students, seniors and children.
