Sobe Institute of the Arts Begins Fall Program

By:

SoBe Institute of the Arts announces its SoBe Arts Fall Program 2010 for children, teens and adults.  Fall Semester: Sept. 13 thru Jan. 14.  SoBe Arts is located in the historic Carl Fisher Clubhouse and Little Stage Theater Complex on Miami Beach.

This Fall we are pleased to offer  high-level programs in Music, Theater, and Musical Theater, taught by a faculty of great instructors with experience in world-class performing arts organizations including The Manhattan School of Music, Actors Theater of Louisville and The Public Theater / New York Shakespeare Festival (NYC),  all supervised by Executive Artistic Director, Carson Kievman, Ph.D. (Princeton University):

Musical Theater (Into the Woods) for Adults & Teens.  October 4 - November 24.  So you want to be in Musicals? SoBe Arts presents an intensive 6 week Musical Theater program which will focus on putting together a workshop performance of Stephen Sondheim's hit Broadway musical "Into the Woods". This class is another step to becoming a true music-theater performer.
Instructor, Rebekah Diaz.

Topics learned will include: bringing characterization to a song, defining a character, vocal techniques, and mastering the various musical theatre techniques and styles. In the beginning levels, technique and style will be introduced in the three areas. In the more advanced levels, various styles, advanced technique, and vocal performance will be the focus.

SoBe Arts Acting/Theater Program for All Ages. Youth & Teen Actors: September 13 thru January 14.  Adult Actors: September 14 - November 2 & November 9 - January 11  Young Actors work with theater professionals and will receive intensive training in acting and finally perform in a workshop production created for them and by them.  For Adult Actors returning to acting as well as those new to the discipline are our focus. Emphasis is on a vital part of actor training: a reliable and repeatable technique, a 'way of working' on auditions, scenes, monologues and roles to keep the actor working. Based on Shurtleff's 12 Guideposts from his seminal book AUDITION, with added exposure to the Meisner technique and others. The class is 'study in action' as actors work on scenes and monologues with video taping and playback to accelerate their progress. Instructors - adult & teen actors: Glen Lawrence, young actors, TBA.

SoBe Arts Music Instrument & Voice Program for All Ages.  Youth & Teen Music: September 14 - January 14.
