Broadway's Richard Jay-Alexander will be offering two Theatre Career Workshops at Playground Theatre starting February 19. The classes are divided into two separate age groups, 7-13 and 14 -19, and are only $30.
These sessions are for kids who have the burning desire to understand how to proceed in creating a show business career, and who want to go to the next level. Participants will benefit enormously by taking just this one three hour session. They will leave with tips, guidance and suggestions as to how to improve and achieve their goals.
Richard Jay-Alexander'scareer spans 38 years of Broadway, television, film, recordings, cabarets, and concert arenas. Mr. Jay-Alexander has produced and directed productions at some of the most famous halls in the world including Carnegie Hall, Disney, Radio City Music Hall, and the Hollywood Bowl.
But Richard Jay-Alexander is also one of the foremost discoverers of talent in the nation. He discovered the young Lea Michele at 8 years old and introduced her later to a Hollywood Bowl of 17,000 people, where she was first spotted, then cast in GLEE. He also gave Ricky Martin his Broadway debut in Les Miseràbles. He has worked and recorded with The Broadway Kids and with Rosie's Theater Kids. He has taught all over the country, and loves to encourage and support young people who want to be performers or involved in any aspect of the entertainment industry.
