REASONS TO BE PRETTY Makes Southeastern Premiere in Miami Starting 10/24

By:

Neil LaBute's Tony nominated REASONS TO BE PRETTY will make its Southeastern debut presented by GableStage and performed at the Biltmore in Miami. The cast features Amy Elane Anderson, Todd Allen Durkin, Erin Joy Schmidt, and Ricky Waugh. REASONS TO BE PRETTY opens on October 24th and runs though November 22nd.

In REASONS TO BE PRETTY, Greg's tight-knit social circle is thrown into turmoil when his offhanded remarks about a female coworker's pretty face (and his girlfriend's lack thereof) get back to said girlfriend. But that's just the beginning. Greg's best buddy Kent, and Kent's wife Carly also enter into the picture and the emotional equation becomes exponentially more complicated. As their relationships crumble, the four friends are forced to confront a sea of deceit, infidelity and betrayed trust in their journey to answer that oh-so-American question: How much is pretty worth?

The production is directed by Joseph Adler and features a technical team including set design by Lyle Baskin, music and sound design by Matt Corey, lighting design by Jeff Quinn, costumes by Ellis Tillman and property management by Beth Fath. The technical director is Carlos Rodriguez and the stage manager is Kristen Pieski.

Neil LaBute is an American playwright, director and screenwriter. He burst into national consciousness in 1993 with his film In the Company of Men, which he directed and adapted from his own play of the same name. The film won the Filmmakers Trophy at the Sundance Film Festival, and major awards and nominations at the Independent Spirit Awards, the Thessaloniki Film Festival, and the New York Film Critics Circle, among many others. He followed this with another film, Your Friends and Neighbors, and a string of critically-acclaimed plays including BASH, The Mercy Seat, Fat Pig, and Reasons to be Pretty, which was recently nominated for three Tony awards, including Best New Play.

Performances will be held Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8pm, Saturday and Sunday at 2pm and Sunday at 7pm. There will be no 7pm performance on Sunday October 25th. Tickets range in price from $37.50 to $45.00 and are available online through www.GableStage.org or through the box office at 305-445-1119.
