Prepare To Get Down And Boogie At The Maltz Jupiter Theatre's Gala THE DISCO BALL

Get ready to groove at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's annual gala The Disco Ball!

Inspired by the upcoming musical Mamma Mia!, the dreamy affair will take place on Saturday, February 2, at The Breakers Palm Beach. Led by Honorary Chairs Brett and Rocky Langbert, the evening will honor staff members who have positively affected the lives of countless children and teens in the community: the Theatre's director of education Julie Rowe and the faculty of the Theatre's Goldner Conservatory of Performing Arts.

"Our largest fundraiser of the year exemplifies the Theatre's mission of entertaining, educating and inspiring our community and we could not be happier to honor the extraordinary Julie Rowe and her faculty," said Suellen Mann, the Theatre's director of development. "The gala is a wonderful reason to dress up and enjoy an elegant evening for a wonderful cause: the largest regional theatre in Florida and its Conservatory, which wouldn't exist without its generous supporters."

Considered to be one of South Florida's most spectacular and fun-filled "must attend" annual events, the Theatre's development team has spent the past year working with the design and lighting studios at The Breakers creating the perfect vision for the ball. In true '70s style, guests will encounter a throwback treat upon entering the cocktail hour: a costumed 'disco ball' dancing on a platform surrounded by the bar. In the historic Venetian ballroom, guests will find a ballroom aglow in candlelight, lavish sequined table cloths and a giant art installation of disco balls hanging from the ceiling, complete with a mounted eight-foot disco ball in the center of the room and disco balls at each table. Cascading roses, a silver curtain and a dramatic palate of silver, hot pink, light pink, white and purple will set the stage for a sumptuous three-course dinner of '70s-styled decadent fare.

Entertainment will include an exclusive performance by more than 100 children, including students from the Theatre's Conservatory and youth performers from the Theatre's Professional Training Program. A 20-piece orchestra will bring all the drama and beauty of live theatre into the evening, and an exclusive surprise tribute to Rowe and her faculty will enthrall and delight all who attend.

"The Maltz Jupiter Theatre hit the lottery when we hired Julie Rowe ten seasons ago," said Andrew Kato, the Theatre's producing artistic director and chief executive. "She and her faculty have truly transformed our Conservatory into the thriving, successful school it is today. We wanted to honor them in the best way possible: through an unforgettable and stirring celebration. The gala is about the thousands of childrens' lives they have changed through the Conservatory and how honored we are to have them working in our community through our not-for-profit theatre."

The gala will raise funds for the Theatre's award-winning productions to help keep its performances affordable for all, as well as inspiring the next generation of young audiences through the Theatre's community outreach programs. It will also help support local families by providing scholarships for children to attend classes and camps at the Conservatory. More than 25 percent of students receive scholarships.

Located on the Theatre's property in Jupiter, the Conservatory is a premiere professional Conservatory that offers a challenging, innovative and quality theatre experience to students of all ages and abilities. In addition to a full schedule of year round classes, the unique connection to the Theatre allows for exclusive hands-on workshops and master classes that offer students an opportunity to learn from nationally-known directors and Broadway performers, agents and local instructors. With state-of-the-art dance, voice and acting studios, the Conservatory is also home to the Theatre's Professional Training Program, a two-year certificate program designed to train young actors for a career in theatre, musical theatre, film and television.
