More Than 200 Jewish Federation Donors 'Celebrated Philanthropy' During A Special Evening At The Kravis Center With Celebrity Chef, Michael Solomonov

By:

More than 200 of Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County's dedicated community leaders and philanthropists gathered for a festive evening at the Celebrating Philanthropy Dinner and reception on February 10, 2020 at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. The featured speaker was Michael Solomonov, a James Beard Award-Winning Chef, and the evening honored the vision and leadership of dedicated community leader and philanthropist Judith A. Levy. The event was chaired by Hope and Gene Silverman; Rita and Charles Bronfman served as Honorary Chairs.

Levy was presented with the Jewish Federation's prestigious Jeanne Levy Community Leadership Award in recognition of her spirit of collaboration, giving and leadership. Over the span of more than 50 years, Judith A. Levy has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to causes that strengthen the Jewish community and Jewish identity including programs such as Birthright Israel, an organization that offers Jewish young adults a free, educational trip to experience their heritage in Israel and has served in several national, regional and local leadership roles.

In addition to celebrating the honoree, guests heard from Michael Solomonov, an Israeli chef featured in the Netflix documentary film, "In Search of Israeli Cuisine", and known for his landmark Philadelphia restaurant, Zahav, recently named Best Restaurant in America at the 2019 James Beard Awards.

"To receive this award at this point in my life is rewarding beyond measure. For me the Jewish Federation and Jeanne Levy are synonymous; they both represent kindness, integrity, community, caring for others, and the exemplary and eternal value of the Jewish people. L'Dor V'dor - from generation to generation," shared Judith A. Levy. "This is also how I have devoted my life, from my youngest days when I was called derogatory names to learning about the atrocities of the Holocaust to when the state of Israel was founded in 1948. I knew I had to do something, and have dedicated my life to do so and empower my peers to join me in creating a stronger Jewish community."

The evening celebrated Federation's ongoing impact and recognized those who gave a minimum gift of $10,000 to Jewish Federation's 2020 annual campaign.
