Jackson Browne Begins His Solo Show At The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall 11/18

Singer-songwriter Jackson Browne jump starts his new solo acoustic tour this November including a concert on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.

Tickets to the 8 p.m. show are $40-$60 (a limited number of "Smart Seats" are available for $10).

Browne, an inductee in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2004) and the Songwriter's Hall of Fame (2007), has written and performed some of the most literate and moving songs in popular music . His hits include "Running on Empty," "The Pretender," "Somebody's Baby," "These Days," "Doctor My Eyes" and others.

Since his acclaimed 1972 self-titled debut album, Browne has defined a genre of songwriting and performing that is charged with honesty, emotion and social conscience. Two of his albums, Late For the Sky and The Pretender, are on Rolling Stone's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time."

The stripped-down, unscripted nature oF Browne's intimate solo performances has been widely lauded by critics such as Rolling Stone reviewer Anthony DeCurtis. He wrote, "Between songs, Browne speaks about his life and music with moving candor...This is Browne at his best, engaging his audience, his own experiences and the world around him, all in songs that will not lose their resonance any time soon."

Music critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine (allmusic.com) wrote oF Browne's career, "He was the quintessential sensitive Californian singer/songwriter of the early '70s. Only Joni Mitchell and James Taylor ranked alongside him in terms of influence....While the majority of his classic '70s work was unflinchingly personal, it nevertheless provided a touchstone for a generation of maturing baby boomers coming to terms with adulthood.
