GAVROCHE, Les Mis Spinoff Musical, to Premiere at Stuart Theatre
![]()
A new take on Les Miserables, Gavroche is from the perspective of the teens and kids in the original Victor Hugo book, starring scrappy street kid Gavroche and his two teen sisters Eponine and Azelma. Featuring a pop, contemporary score by composer/lyricist Bonnie Gleicher (off-Broadway's Addy & Uno) and a fresh take on a familiar story, Gavroche is for fans of such enduring musicals as Wicked and Annie.
Teenagers and kids will premiere the show at StarStruck, celebrating the theatre's 20th anniversary. Known for developing and premiering MTI's Junior/School editions of Hairspray, Rent, and Sweeney Todd, StarStruck has hosted Vanessa Williams, Wicked composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz, and trained performers who've gone on to Broadway, television and major motion films. This is their first time premiering a completely new musical.
"I feel so thankful StarStruck is the first to debut Gavroche," says composer/lyricist Bonnie Gleicher. "This new musical stars courageous, playful, and determined kids, and its story of love and family is exactly what StarStruck is about. I hope the whole experience inspires everyone involved to take a chance on new musical theatre, and never give up on themselves."
Music and Lyrics by Bonnie Gleicher, Book by Robert John Hoover, Direction by Jennifer Jones, Music Direction by Peter Jones, Choreography by Rebecca Beery.
