Diana Krall Returns to the Van Wezel 3/27/2012

By: Mar. 27, 2012

Diana Krall returns to the VAN WEZEL PERFORMING ARTS HALL on Tuesday, March 27 at 8 p.m. after last season's sell out!

Diana Krall has carved a permanent position at the top of the jazz charts with works like Quiet Nights, When I Look In Your Eyes, The Look of Love and The Girl in the Other Room. The Canadian-born jazz pianist and singer is the winner of three Grammys and eight Junos and sold more albums than any other female jazz artist during the 1990s and 2000s.

Krall's most recent project includes work on Paul McCartney's new album, devoted to covers of pop standards from the pre-rock years. The title tracks are being kept quiet for now, but McCartney told Rolling Stone "They're just songs I admire...I'm trying to steer away from the obvious ones." While you wait with anticipation for the McCartney-Krall duo tracks, you can hear classic Krall at the Van Wezel. Diana's heavy-lidded vocals and strikingly sensitive piano-playing are brilliant, but her disarming intimacy with her audience is what makes her live concert a must-see.

Ticket prices range from $30 to $115. For more information and to buy tickets, contact the Van Wezel Box office at (941) 953-3368 or log onto www.vanwezel.org.
