The Waterfront Playhouse will proudly present Carmen Rodriguez in "Carmen. The Singer. Not The Opera" – a one night solo concert on April 26 at 8:30 pm. Carmen, a native Key Wester, is one of the most beloved singers on the island and has performed in virtually every venue in town. Her concert will reflect her evolution as a singer/entertainer and will feature songs from her extensive repertoire of American standards, tunes from the pop genre and songs from her musical theatre appearances on all of the stages in Key West.

Joining Ms. Rodriguez onstage will be Richard Tazewell on keyboards and Skipper Kripitz on percussion, both of whom have acted as musical directors. There will also be special appearances by Bobby Nesbitt and Danny Weathers. A gala-post performance party will be held in the sculpture garden in front of the theatre. It's sponsored through the generosity of Bunnie Smith and Jack Paul, with catering by Great Events.

"Carmen. The Singer. Not the Opera," will mark Carmen's first solo concert for one of Key West's theatres. She has planned a line-up of songs that have played an important part in her life. Starting with her very first appearances as a local high school student up to her recent power house deliveries in theatrical productions, it promises to be an evening to remember.

Carmen's musical theatre appearances include "Show Tune: the Music of Jerry Herman," "Meshuggah-Nuns," "My Way," and "Pump Boys and Dinettes," at the Red Barn. At the Waterfront, she's appeared in " Penny Lane," "Gotta Sing A Showtune (I and II) and the season opening Sondheim concert. At TWFAC, she played lead roles in "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Little Shop of Horrors." She has appeared each year in the "Bobby In The Lobby" series at TWT, and is slated for next season's reprise of Mr. Nesbitt's Johnny Mercer tribute.
