Stage Door Announces Summer Shows

The Stage Door Theatre has announced their summer shows, including a musical for their new venue in North Miami Beach. In Theatre 1 in Coral Springs will be the play "Crossing Delancey"; in the Theatre 2, the musical "Song Man, Dance Man", and in Miami at the at it's new location at the Byron Carlyle Theatre will be last season's long running hit, "Suds".

"Crossing Delancey" is a romantic comedy by Susan Sandler that was made into a 1980's film starring Amy Irving. It is a comedy with heart that tackles the issue of modern values clashing with old world traditions on New York's lower East Side. Performance dates are July 8 to August 14.

"Song Man Dance Man" is a tribute to the song and dance men of the last century, including Fred Astaire, Gene Kelley, Sammy Davis Jr, and Anthony Newley. It is being performed by Jon Peterson who has been seen on Broadway in "Cabaret". Stage Door audiences will remember him for his star turn in "George M. Cohan Tonight" that went on to Off-Broadway for over a year. Performance dates are July 1 to July 24 in Theatre 2 in Coral Springs.

Stage Door's grand opening at their the Byron Carlyle in Miami will be in the fall, but this summer they are doing a "soft opening" with the musical "Suds". Featuring all 1960's hits, it is the story of three girls looking for love in a Laundromat. The show ran last year to sold out houses with three extensions, and is one of the longest running shows in the theatre's 19 year history. Performance dates are July 29 to September 04. The new venue is located at 500 71st Street, Miami Beach, Fl.
