Broward Cultural Division Partners with Caribe Arts Fest for Artist Seminars Today
Broward Cultural Division is partnering with the American Art Initiative (AAI) and Caribe Arts Fest, to offer two artist seminars as part of the festival's schedule this year. In its second year, Caribe Arts Fest is a multi-genre festival celebrating the arts of the Caribbean and the Americas. The festival will be held in downtown Fort Lauderdale, today, October 17 - 20.
Showcasing multimedia creations, and representing and encompassing the culture, essence and creativity of the Caribbean and the Americas, the festival aims to celebrate artistic diversity within the Broward community. This international festival will introduce artists to mainstream markets that support and provide avenues to develop their work. The two artist seminars, offered by the Broward Cultural Division, will be held at the Museum of Art /Fort Lauderdale at One E. Las Olas Blvd., from 1 - 5 p.m. on each day.Thursday, October 17
Marketing 101: Creating a Marketing Plan that Works for You
Facilitator Nancy Hytone Leb will lead participants in a half-day seminar for individual artists that emphasizes marketing as the key to developing any business; and understanding that artistic businesses are no exception! Understanding where to start; the basic fundamentals and how to create a marketing plan, are all first steps in this critical process towards success. The workshop will also cover the planning process in detail and equipped participants with tools and resources needed to create a marketing plan that fits their specified needs as an artist entrepreneur. Business Formation for Artists: How to Start an Arts Nonprofit Business, and Creating Your For-Profit Artist Business
Presented by artist and attorney Sergio Muñoz Sarmiento, this half-day seminar for arts professionals will cover the legal and business issues that affect individual artists. Within arts and cultural organizations, visual artists, performance artists, writers, fashion designers, filmmakers, musicians, web designers, and anyone working in interactive media are encouraged to attend. Cultural organizations, recently admitted attorneys, and other professionals who represent artists should also benefit from this program. RSVP.
