Many people think theatre is a temporary thing for themselves. Just an enjoyable hobby to pass the time, because it is very frequent that someone who indulges in the theatre does not pursue it as a career. This is why many people don't take theatre as a big part of their life. They may say, "Oh, I was a part of the drama club way back in high school." But what do they not know is that the theatre becomes a part of you that never dies.

Once you venture into any part of the theatre, it teaches you so many things and you gain so many skills that you may not even realize! For example:

Creativity. The theatre certainly makes us more creative in various aspects of our lives. It's one of those things that constantly sparks new ideas in our brains. Performing itself is an art of creativity. As we continue to grow in the theatre, we don't even notice how it's like everyone's a huge, creative family.

Handling real-life situations. When we perform, we aren't ourselves anymore. We become the character. And in the time being, we tend to take bits and pieces of that character and insert it into our own lives. So, in a way, we kinda develop our personalities in the theatre. In the process, we end up learning a lot about what to do when similar things happen in real life.

Social Acceptance. If you haven't noticed already, the theatre is extremely diverse! There are so many people you end up working with; all sorts of different personalities and ethnicities and etc. When you end up being in the theatre for quite a while, you end up appreciating these differences within everybody, and become more open-minded.

History. So many different shows teach so many different things. On Broadway, there are so many different musicals that teach us so much about what happened in the past. Musicals like Newsies, The Scottsboro Boys, and Hamilton are only a few of the many musicals that teach us about important events in an entertaining manner.

Expressing yourself. The theatre is a wonderful way of expressing yourself! When you portray a character, you certainly become a totally different person; but with a sprinkle of your own personality. Once you take part in the theatre, you find various ways to express yourself in real life.

That's not all that we learn, but if I was to list everything, I may as well keep typing for the rest of my life! When you're in the theatre, you just can't stop learning. There's always something more to anticipate in the day ahead! ou can see, once you take part in the theatre, you can't help but take some of the experience with you when you leave. The theatre just ends up sticking with you.
