Aventura Arts & Cultural Center Presents ON GOLDEN POND One Night Only
The City of Aventura presents the acclaimed Montana Rep's National Touring production of On Golden Pond at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center on Wednesday, March 21 at 8 p.m.
Made famous through the Academy Award-winning film, this stirring tale of a single family and how they pull apart and then find each other continues to resonate with the universal emotions of parenthood, aging and the feeling of being lost--and hopefully found.
The film won three Academy Awards for Henry Fonda and Katherine Hepburn in their leading roles as well as for Ernest Thompson, who won the award for "Best Writing" for his film adaptation of his play.
The New Yorker has noted, "What courage it must have taken for Mr. Thompson in the 1970s to write a play with so much affection in it!"
In a note for the program, Thompson writes, "If you've never spent time on Golden Pond before, welcome. If you're back for another visit, I know the feeling; I never seem to stray too far, prepping a sequel to the movie and another Broadway revival. On Golden Pond has been seen all over the world, in 30 languages, but I'm happy that this production is playing in your town."
Montana Repertory Theatre assembles principle actors, directors, and designers from Broadway, Off-Broadway, national tours of Broadway shows and major regional theaters. Its mission is to tell the great stories of our world to enlighten, develop and celebrate the human spirit in an ever-expanding community.
