AST Announces 31st Season Of Plays Auditions 4/6, 4/7

American Stage Theatre Company has announced Equity Principal auditions for their 31st season of plays and musicals on Monday, April 6 and Tuesday, April 7 from 10 am to 5 pm.
FENCES will begin rehearsals on August 25, open September 15, and close October 11 (with the possibility of a one week extension until Sunday, October 18). Directed by tbd: Troy, former Negro League baseball player, 53; Gabriel, Troy's brother, with a severe brain injury from WWII, 46; Bono, Troy's friend, 50s; Rose, Troy's wife, 43; Lyons, Troy's oldest son from a previous marriage, a musician, 34; Cory, Troy and Rose's son, 17 or 18, a star on his high school football team; and Raynell, Troy's daughter, 7 years old. All the roles in FENCES are African-American.THIS WONDERFUL LIFE will begin rehearsals on November 3, open November 20, and close December 27. Directed by Todd Olson: one male actor will play Narrator and all the residents of Bedford Falls, including George Bailey, 25-35.Blithe Spirit will begin rehearsals on January 5, open January 22, and close February 7 (with the possibility of two one-week extensions until Sunday, February 21). Directed by Jeff Zinn: Charles Condomine, 40 urbane and slightly pompous; Edith, his silly maid, 20s; Ruth, Charles second wife, sharp, acerbic, 30s; Doctor Bradman, 40s, pillar of society; Mrs. Bradman, married to Doctor Bradman, slightly nervy, 40s; Madame Arcati, eccentric and flamboyant, 45-65; Elvira Charles, Charles' first wife, now a ghost, beautiful and wilful, 30s. NOTE: The play is set in the South East of England in 1930's and the accents should reflect this.27 (with the possibility of a one week extension until Sunday, July 4. Directed by tbd: Charles Smith, 40-60, unpopular President; Archer Brown, Chief of staff, a man in a suit; a representative of the National Association of Turkey Manufacturers, 30-50, a man in a suit; Clarice Bernstein, 40s, Presidential speech writer, a lesbian; Dwight Grackle, a Native American.
For this call actors should prepare two monologues of their choice, not to exceed 3 minutes. Actors interested in Blithe Spirit should demonstrate a standard British dialect. No songs need be prepared for this open call; an open call for HAIR in the park will take place at a later date. Audition slots will last five minutes. There may be callbacks at a later date. Auditions will take place at American Stage, 211 3rd St. South, downtown St. Petersburg. Auditions are by appointment and can be made by e-mailing T.
