$20 Front Orchestra Seats for 'Rent' !

Seats in the front three rows of the orchestra will be made available for $20.00 for every performance of RENT, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony® Award-winning musical, at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. The $20 tickets go on sale in person at the Broward Center AutoNation box office, on the day of performance only, two hours prior to the show and are available to anyone, cash only, with a limit of two tickets per person.
"In keeping with the spirit of the show and the vision of Jonathan Larson (the show's creator) we are happy to be able to offer prime seats to people who otherwise would not be able to purchase them," explained original RENT producer Kevin McCollum. "Jonathan was himself a struggling artist and his dream was to create a universal piece of musical theatre that's available to everyone."
The tradition of the $20 tickets was started in New York when RENT moved to Broadway after a sold-out run in a small downtown theatre. Since that time people have lined up as early as the night before to guarantee their purchase of the $20 tickets. The producers of the show are committed to continuing the tradition of offering orchestra seats for $20 in each city the show will play.
RENT makes its Ft. Lauderdale return to the Broward Center September 14 – 17, 2006 with six performances only. Show times are Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm, Sunday evening at 7:30pm and matinees Saturday and Sunday at 2pm.
Tickets ranging from $21.00 - $60.00 (not including applicable service charges) can be purchased in person at the Broward Center AutoNation Box Office and by phone and internet at 954-462-0222 or www.browardcenter.org, and Ticketmaster phones at 954-523-3309 in Broward, 305-358-5885 in Dade, and 561-966-3309 in Palm Beach or at www.ticketmaster.com . Tickets are also available through Ticketmaster outlets.
