The Loves of Lincoln is a world premiere queer bedroom farce about Abraham Lincoln, his Black maid, and her animatronic steampunk Lincoln robot. The play explores Lincoln's historically debated sexuality, drawing on C.A. Tripp's biography The Intimate World of Abraham Lincoln, while using comedy to address questions of race, sexuality, and historical memory. Written and directed by Scott Sublett, Professor Emeritus of Screenwriting at San José State University, the production opens on Juneteenth during Pride Month. Performances run Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm at TheatreWorks @ The Square in Overton Square, Memphis.
