Rare Scotch Tasting to Benefit Theatre Memphis, 3/1

By:

A very rare collection of single cask single malt Scotch whisky will be available for tasting on March 1, 2012, to benefit the artistic programming at Theatre Memphis. Sponsored by The Scottish Malt Whisky Association, SelDon Murray, a member of the Memphis Scottish Society, will lead the tasting and discussion of some very rare offerings in the United States … some scarce and some never to be replaced samplings, all imported from Edinburgh, Scotland.

The event begins at 6pm and will be held at the Clark Opera Memphis Center, 6745 Wolf River Parkway, and the entire evening will be filled with music, song and tradition that will enhance the tasting experience.  The evening starts with a cocktail buffet by Erling Jensen where attendees will be entertained by Brenda Maquire on Celtic Harp. At 7pm there will be a trumpet fanfare as the presentation of Scotch proceeds with a verger, bagpipes and Templar Knights. Each Scotch will be introduced and a have a guided discussion of types and tips prior to the tasting. Soprano Hillary Ward Dow will conclude the evening with “Will Ye No Come Back” followed by a bagpipers’ salute.

Cost for the entire evening of food, drink and ceremony is $150 per person. Limited seating is available. Call 901.682.8323 to reserve your seats or for more information.
