Penobscot Theatre Company announces its 47th Season. The company, which traditionally serves 40,000 audience members from September to August at its historic opera house home in downtown Bangor, Maine, will present an eclectic, full season, exclusively online. The innovative season, monikered, a?oeDigitus Theatruma?? launches in October.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Penobscot Theatre Company has made the difficult decision to postpone the remainder of their 46th season. During this unprecedented shutdown, they will begin an organizational restructuring in preparation for their 47th season. Producing Artistic Director Bari Newport said, 'It's been several weeks of very rapid and tough decision-making, but we remain laser-focused on the well-being of our theatre family, the community, and the success of the company.'

Penobscot Theatre Company will close out its 46th Season by kicking off summer with 9 to 5 The Musical, from June 11 to July 12. With a book by Patricia Resnick, and music and lyrics by the beloved Dolly Parton, this delightful story of friendships and girl power is part 80's office humor and part fairy tale.
Penobscot Theatre Company is pleased to invite the community to enjoy a sneak peek of the 2019-2020 season on Thursday, August 22 at 7:00 pm, at the Bangor Opera House. 'I'm honestly not sure which production we're more excited about this season, but I can assure you they're all going to be spectacular!' said Producing Artistic Director Bari Newport, 'The outstanding variety of our 46th season will be on full display at this year's Scenes and Songs, along with a few exciting announcements!'
