Penobscot Theatre Company invites the community to enjoy a complimentary sampling of the 2015-2016 Season at Scenes & Songs, August 27 at 7:00 pm, at the Bangor Opera House. "Our 42nd season has something for everyone," said Producing Artistic Director Bari Newport. "It's a little bit country and a little bit rock 'n rock, with new plays and beloved favorites sure to delight! From Ring of Fire to a surprise seventh show, we're excited to show our audience the smokin' hot lineup in store."

Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash will open the season, September 10-27, followed by Doctor Cerberus, a Maine premiere, October 22-November 8; this year's holiday show, It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, December 3-27; Hair Frenzy, the newest play from the author of One Blue Tarp, January 28-February 14; The Last Five Years, March 10-27; and Duck Hunter Shoots Angel, the first play by Mitch Albom, author of Tuesdays with Morrie, April 28-May 15. "We'll announce the seventh show at Scenes & Songs," said Newport, "At this time, I can share that it's a musical, it's a Maine premiere, and it ain't nothin' but a good time!"

"For our most discriminating patrons, Scenes & Songs is an opportunity to look under the hood of the upcoming season to see if they want to subscribe," said Executive Director Mary Budd. Full season, snowbird, and student subscriptions are on sale now, offering patrons various ways to enjoy the theatre and save up to 43 percent off the price of single tickets. All subscribers are eligible for discounted tickets to It's a Wonderful Life and the seventh show, along with other exclusive benefits.

"Scenes & Songs is always a fun night," said Budd "and this year, we're giving attendees a chance to walk away with more than just memories. Through our Smokin' Hot Raffle, we'll be giving away prizes throughout the evening, including a season subscription!" Raffle tickets may be purchased in advance for $20 each by calling the box office at 942-3333; buyers need not be in attendance to win.

Single tickets for Ring of Fire and all other regular shows will go on sale August 10. While subscribers may purchase their discount tickets to It's a Wonderful Life now, single tickets for this special production will not be available until October 1.

Produced with support from Macy's, Scenes & Songs is free to the public but space is limited and reservations are required.
