Good Theater the professional theater in residence at the St. Lawrence Arts Center has announced its line-up for the company's 15th anniversary season opening in the fall of 2016 and running through the spring of 2017.

The company will produce three main-stage productions plus one special event. Each main-stage show will play for five weeks. Opening the season will be the Portland premiere of Christopher Durgan's Tony Award winning Best Play, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. The show is an over-the-top comedy which begins performances on October 19 running through November 20, 2016.

Good Theater's annual Broadway at Good Theater fundraising concerts take place November 30-December 4, 2016 for six performances. This year the concerts will be a tribute to 1970s Broadway including songs from such shows as A Chorus Line, Chicago, The Wiz, Shenandoah, Sweeney Todd, Company, Follies, Jesus Christ Superstar, Applause, King of Hearts, The Grand Tour and many others. Also, holiday songs from the 1970s will be featured.

Opening January 25-February 26, 2017 will be the New England premiere of Molly Smith Metzler's The May Queen. Set in the offices of an insurance company, this play about a group of 30-somethings is hysterically funny. Reminiscent of such Good Theater shows as Becky's New Car and The Little Dog Laughed, The May Queen is the perfect winter pick-me-up.

Closing the season will be Horton Foote's award-winning The Trip to Bountiful opening March 29 through April 30, 2017. This timeless classic has been on Artistic Director Brian P. Allen's list of shows to do for years. This funny and touching story is sure to end the season on a heart-warming note.

Season tickets for the three shows start as low as $45 for the opening week Wednesday/Thursday/Friday evenings. The company is also offering a discounted season ticket for the opening week's Saturday evening and Sunday matinee performances. These tickets will be $54 for the three shows a savings of 40% off the regular single ticket price.

The company also announced today that Shear Madness will make a return visit in January 2018 for a run of eight weeks. The show completely sold out its scheduled run, January 25-March 20, 2016, so the company will bring it back in season 16.
