ACORN'S NUT FACTORY To Appear At Portland's First Annual Improv Festival 8/6
Acorn Productions is pleased to announce that the company's fledgling Improv troupe, titled "Acorn's Nut Factory," will be performing on Friday, August 6th at the St. Lawrence Arts Center as part of the city's new Portland Improv Comedy Festival this summer. Every major city has one, and Portland needs to be recognized for its Improv Comedy as well, thus creating the need for the festival, which will take place over three nights from August 5th to 7th and features 8 local comedy groups who are joining forces to produce this event.
Improvisational Comedy is a fast-growing form of entertainment in which the performers make up comedy scenes and sketches based primarily on suggestions and interactions with the audience. The performances are not scripted and cause the comedians to create dialog, setting, characters and plot "on the spot." "Acorn's Nut Factory," a group comprised of company members Keith Anctil, Laura Graham, Mike Levine, and Stephanie Ross, has performed 3 shows at the Acorn Studio Theater and participating in the festival is a logical next step for this group of actors, perhaps better known to Acorn audiences as performers in the "Naked Shakespeare" series of events.
The festival is made possible through the contributions of local businesses and organizations committed to promoting the Comedy and Arts community of Greater Portland. The Festival will have events August 5th, 6th and 7th at 8 pm. Tickets cost $10 in advance, $12 at the door, and $25 for a three-day pass. Group rates are available at $8 (groups 10+, reservations must be in advance.) Tickets are available at the St. Lawrence's website: http://www.stlawrencearts.org.
