Pandora Productions to Stage Stephen Sondheim's PASSION, Begin. 9/17

Pandora Productions announces a new programming initiative with the opening of her 2015-2016 Season. Pandora has been presenting plays and musicals that speak to the LGBTQ community for over 20 years but in the 2015-2016 season she will step outside the comfortable 'box' to present a Tony award winning musical by a gay composer but without the usual LBGTQ themes.  Stephen Sondheim's PASSION opens the season on September 17th for a two-week run and is the first in what will be a series of plays and musicals to step outside the box.
Humana Foundation Donates $30,000 to Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts

The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts recently received a $30,000 gift from the Humana Foundation. This grant will be used to support The Kentucky Center's Arts in Healing program, which provides positive arts experiences to those healing from physical and mental health challenges.
Actors Theatre's Annual Dracula Blood Drive Set for 9/9

Actors Theatre of Louisville is encouraging the community to come out and donate during its annual Fifth Third Bank Dracula Blood Drive, in association with the American Red Cross, at Fifth Third Bank (Fourth Street Live) on Wednesday, September 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Support Actors Theatre and the Red Cross by helping us reach our goal of 50 pints.  The event will include a drawing each hour to win tickets to Dracula at Actors Theatre.  Lunch will be provided for all blood donors by Bearno's Pizza. Lite 106.9 will also be on site with fun, prizes and pint for a pint giveaway (that's a pint of ice cream for each person who donates a pint of blood)!

The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra and Music Director James R. Cassidy close the Symphony's 20th anniversary Summer Series in Devou Park, Saturday, September 5 at 7:30 p.m. with a free program dubbed "The Battle of Broadway: Sondheim vs. Webber." Composers Stephen Sondheim and Andrew Lloyd Webber (who coincidently have the same birthday - March 22) ruled the boards on Broadway and the West End for most of the 1970s-80s compiling hit song after hit song in a string of award winning musicals. Home-grown bonafide Broadway stars Pamela Myers and Jessica Hendy will be featured, singing the hit tunes of these living legends.

The Kentucky Center is offering a wide variety of entertainment this fall, as it enters its 32nd arts season. Fall performances will feature author/humorist David Sedaris, singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens and international renowned dance company Parsons Dance, as well as many others, including orchestras, acrobats and even dancing vegetables.
