Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have Alfred Hitchcock's THE 39 STEPS. This 2 time Tony and Drama Desk Award winner will play the Robert S. Whitney Hall - The Kentucky Center from March 16 through 21, 2010 as a part of the Broadway Across America series.
THE 39 STEPS features a cast of four actors who, against all odds, breathlessly and hilariously attempt to reenact all of the characters, locations and famous scenes in Hitchcock's 1935 film with just a few props, a lot of theatrical ingenuity, and split second quick changes. Literally nothing has been cut from this ingenious and spectacular version of Britain's most spell-binding thriller - legendary scenes include the chase on the Flying Scotsman, the escape on the Fourth Bridge, the first bi-plane crash ever staged, the rather provocative ‘bedroom sequence', and the death-defying (or nearly!) finale at the London Palladium.Seeking a frivolous night out at the theatre, protagonist Richard Hannay is lured into a world of intrigue by a mysterious woman claiming to be a spy. When she winds up dead in his flat, he flees London with the police hot on his trail. This is a classic portrayal of one man's flight from wrong accusation through a series of misadventures and old fashioned romance.
The 39 STEPS Tour features Claire Brownell as Annabella Schmidt, Pamela, and Margaret, Eric Hissom as Man #1, Ted Deasy as Richard Hannay, and Scott Parkinson as Man #2.
