Drawing on centuries' old heritages from throughout Central and South Asia, S.A.R.A. explores musical styles both ancient and completely modern.
· Afghanistan is a melting pot whose cultural life bears the evidence of centuries of multicultural exchange. S.A.R.A.'s repertoire encompasses religious, folk, classical and contemporary music, from romantic ghazals to the most elaborate ragas. The vocal element lends itself to the incorporation of Farsi poetry - a specialty of vocalist Homayun Khan.
