As the fall performance season begins The Kentucky Center ArtsReach program is dedicated to increasing accessibility to the arts.

This goal is accomplished, in part, through the KCard program. The KCard is distributed to over 100 young people who study the performing arts in Louisville community centers, and to 30 community centers in the ArtsReach Network.

For $3 per performance, ArtsReach participants can attend selected programs presented by Stage One, Kentucky Center Presents, Louisville Orchestra, the Louisville Ballet, Kentucky Opera, and Broadway in Louisville.

ArtsReach, established in 1991, empowers community centers to program the arts, nurtures and develops diverse artists and audiences, engages youth, and creates community through the arts.

ArtsReach students learn new skills, expand their horizons and develop a sense of self, well-being and belonging. As the individual is empowered, the arts simultaneously build and strengthen the community.

In addition to the KCard program, ArtsReach produces numerous community events which are open to the public at no cost. Programing includes quarterly Open Mics, 2 Poetry Slams, the ArtsReach Showcase featuring community center youth and the annual community arts celebration of DR. Martin Luther King - Keepers of the Dream. Last season over 10,000 people attended these events.

ArtsReach, a program of The Kentucky Center, is made possible with support from Louisville Metro Government, The Norton Foundation, WHAS Crusade for Children, RLR Foundation, Mark Edwards Violins, Ernst & Young and The Kentucky Center Endowment Fund with additional support provided by Brown-Forman, Yum! Brands, Inc. and other private donors.
