Derby Dinner Playhouse Presents THE ROBBER BRIDEGROOM

Derby Dinner Playhouse will present THE ROBBER BRIDEGROOM, opening February 20 and running through March 31, 2019. For ticket information please call 812-288-8281

A live band onstage brings this rousing, bawdy Southern folk tale to life! Set in eighteenth-century Mississippi, the show follows Jamie Lockhart, a rascally robber of the woods, as he courts Rosamund, the only daughter of the richest planter in the country. The proceedings go awry, however, thanks to a case of double-mistaken identity. Throw in an evil stepmother intent on Rosamund's demise, her pea-brained henchman, and a hostile talking head-in-a-trunk, and you have a rollicking country romp!

THE ROBBER BRIDEGROOM is based on the novella by Eudora Welty. The stage version and lyrics were written by Pulitzer Prize winning author, Alfred Uhry, with music by Robert Waldman. Since opening on Broadway, THE ROBBER BRIDEGROOM features one of the only genuine bluegrass scores ever heard in a Broadway Musical.

Derby Dinner's production is under the direction of Lee Buckholz with choreography by Heather Paige Folsom and Musical Direction by Scott Bradley. The cast will feature Patrick Dorow, Joey Banigan, Mandi Elkins Hutchins, Clay Smith, Bobby Conte, Zachary Waters, Blake Graham, Colin Schreier, and Harli Cooper.
