CALENDAR GIRLS to Open Derby Dinner Playhouse's 52nd Season
Tim Firth's comedy features Lisa Woods, Jennifer Pennington, and Elizabeth Loos, directed by Tina Jo Wallace.
Derby Dinner Playhouse will kick off its 52nd season with the heartwarming comedy Calendar Girls, opening May 20 and running through June 28, 2026.
When Annie's husband, John, passes away from leukemia, she and her Best Friend Chris set out to raise funds for the local hospital waiting room. Their unconventional idea? Persuading four fellow Women's Institute members to pose tastefully nude for an "alternative" calendar. With the help of hospital porter and amateur photographer Lawrence, their charitable effort quickly captures national attention. As media frenzy descends on their quiet Yorkshire village, the calendar's success brings unexpected challenges-testing friendships and changing lives along the way.
Written by Tim Firth, Calendar Girls is based on the Miramax motion picture by Juliette Towhidi and Tim Firth, and inspired by a remarkable true story.
Derby Dinner's production is directed by Tina Jo Wallace and features a talented cast including Lisa Woods, Jennifer Pennington, Elizabeth Loos, Janet Essenpreis, Bryana Bentley, Katie Gilbertson, Michael Drury, J.R. Stuart, and more.
