The Aliens tells the story of three geniuses on the outside looking out who pass a shaky summer in a staff-only area. As their lives change slowly under an exploding sky, Evan, Jasper, and KJ try to cope with a world in which they were never built to function nor understand. But when alienation is the expectation, it's our human connections that surprise us the most. Are they The Aliens? The New Humans? Or are they just like you? Bukowski meets Beckett in this unforgettable suckerpunch comedy that whispers to scream.

The Aliens premiered Off-Broadway at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater in April 2010, was a finalist for the 2010 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize and shared the 2010 Obie Award for Best New American Play with Circle Mirror Transformation.

Annie Baker's other plays, including Body Awareness, Circle Mirror Transformation, and recent adaptation of Uncle Vanya have also met with acclaim and solidified Ms. Baker's role as a playwright to keep an eye on.

Director Mike Brooks is thrilled to bring The Aliens to Louisville audiences citing it as theatre that works anthropologically, saying "his play takes its time and gives the audience a chance to deeply observe a tiny human evolution." Brooks continues to note the work as "easy to love," a welcome challenge for [502] actors and designers, and a natural fit for Theatre [502]'s mission to connect Louisville artists and audiences, with a passion for the recent and relevant and an obsession with quality.

The Aliens (by Annie Baker) will play the Victory Jory Theatre (Actors Theatre) October 5, 6, 8, 12, 13 8:00 p.m. Tickets: $15. Reservations available at info@theatre502.org.
