World Premiere of THE TWILIGHT OF SCHLOMO Opens Tonight at Elephant Space Theatre

The critically acclaimed Elephant Theatre Company presents the World Premiere of Timothy McNeil's The Twilight of Schlomo. The Twilight of Schlomo explores how our simplest choices sometimes have far-reaching effects for those around us, and how redemption might never be too far away. This is the final chapter in Timothy McNeil's Hollywood Trilogy which includes Los Muertos and Anything. The production will open tonight, January 11th, 2014 at The Elephant Space Theatre.

Richard's troubled past is catching up to him. A former not-quite-successful stand-up comic, he faces a deep mid-life crisis as his distant step-daughter arrives unexpectedly with shocking news, and his neighbors reveal dangerous secrets through his thin apartment walls. As those around him threaten his solitude, Richard uses weed , blow and acidic humor as armor, wrestling with his own personal truths and discovering who he still wants to be.

BIOS FOR TWILIGHT OF SCHLOMO:

David Fofi (Elephant Theatre Company Co-Artistic Director). After serving with the US Navy, David Fofi went on to study theatre at California State University Long Beach, where he met a core group of artists who would become the Elephant Theatre Company, founded in 1995 in downtown Los Angeles. In 1998, along with Don Cesario, he created Elephant Stages and the Lillian Theatre in Hollywood, where the Elephant Theatre Company now makes its home, and where he serves as Artistic Director. Dave has enjoyed working in many aspects of the theatre as a director, producer, and designer. Timothy McNeil has had a wide and varied career since arriving in Los Angeles. Tim has written and had produced over 13 plays in Los Angeles including The Charm of Making (directed by Milton Justice), Anything (LADCC Best Play of 2008), Los Muertos, (both directed by David Fofi), Crane, Mississippi (directed by Kristin Hanggi), Margaret, and Small Days (both directed by Mark Ruffalo), The Straight Bozo, and Freddie's Dead, among others, all around town. He has worked on two play commissions, one for the Mark Taper Forum one for the Stella Adler Studio Collective. His play Supernova premieres now at The Elephant Theater Company. His movie Anderson Gully is due to be shot at some point this year, which he is greatly excited about. As an actor, he has done over 50 film and television roles. Film credits include Forrest Gump, Speedway Junkies, Starship Troopers, Contact, Poodle Springs, Wicked, Spark, Ice, Ordinary Madness, Player 5150, and the upcoming Sympathy for Delicious. Television credits include Joan of Arcadia, ER, The Night Stalker, House MD, My Wife and Kids, Stand Off, Seinfeld, Murphy Brown, Star Trek Voyager, Diagnosis Murder, and many more. Theater highlights include George in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf at Stella Adler, Early in Anything at the Lillian Theater, Yevgeny in Los Muertos at the Elephant, Claudius in the Page 93 production of Hamlet at the Lillian, Pozzo in Waiting for Godot, also at the Lillian, Jerry in Margaret at the Hudson Backstage, Walter in Crane, Mississippi at the Elephant, Horace in The Day I Stood Still, also at the Elephant, Henry Smalls in Small Days at the Hudson Backstage, and many more. In addition, he has also directed quite a few plays including King Lear at Stella Adler Theater, Beach Play at the Hudson (Critic's Choice), The Crucible at Stella Adler, The Diary of Anne Frank also at Stella Adler, Homebody/Kabul at Studio C, The Marriage of Bette and Boo at the Elephant Theater, 4:48 Psychosis, Hamlet, and The Year of Stolen Light by Alex Aves, all at Studio C. He has also been a teacher at the Stella Adler Studio for Actors for the past ten years, a most rewarding experience. He is also the resident playwright for the Studio. Tim is a proud member of The Elephant Theater Company and The Stella Adler Studio Los Angeles Collective.
