L.A.'s famed Upright Cabaret, for the past two years, has traveled to Palm Springs with its motley crew of Broadway stars, T.V. personalities and talented local artists presenting incredible intimate concerts (under the stars) that have featured the "who's who" of the entertainment industry, including American Idol finalist Adam Lambert, Tony Nominee Valarie Pettiford (Broadway: Fosse), Neil Patrick Harris (CBS's How I Met Your Mother & ABC's Doogie Howser, M.D.) to simply name a few.

This weekend is no exception, on Saturday, July 4th, Upright Cabaret presents "American Anthem, a celebration of American song" at the Ace Hotel & Swim Club, which will weave a tapestry of American song with great stories and classics that you know and love!

This one night only event will star Broadway's Jennifer Leigh Warren who has been lauded as an "original" for her theatrical work on Broadway, from her show-stopping performance as the slave "Alice's Daughter" in the original Broadway cast of Big River (singing a song written for her by Roger Miller), to originating the role of "Crystal" in the Off- Broadway smash Little Shop of Horrors, to her performance in the original Broadway cast of Michael John LaChiusa's Marie Christine at Lincoln Center. Mrs. Warren was featured on the Grammy Award-nominated original cast albums of all three of these shows.  Recently, Ms. Warren played Dr. Margaret Kennedy in Chan Poliny's new musical Venus in Minneapolis, and received rave reviews for her role in San Diego Repertory Theatre's "The Princess and the Black-Eyed Pea."

Joining Mrs. Warren will be a stellar supporting cast including American Idol finalist and West End player Tom Lowe (West End: Cats, Les Miserables), who recently won much acclaim for his portrayal of Enjolras in last year's Les Miserables at the Hollywood Bowl, Marty Thomas (Broadway: Wicked, Secret Garden, Xanadu), and Elizabeth Brackenbury (Reprise's Sunday in the Park with George), Steve Mazurak (Les Miserables at the Hollywood Bowl), and Jake Simpson (Star Search Grand Champion) with Upright Cabaret Music Director Chris Bratten.

In the Golden Age of entertainment, Palm Springs supper clubs like the Chi Chi hosted all of the great stars of the day and helped define an era of style and sophistication that made Palm Springs
famous. Upright Cabaret will reclaim that era at the desert's most anticipated new leisure property.
