The Neville Brothers Bring Their Last L.A. Show to the Hollywood Bowl, 8/1
The Neville Brothers, who embedded New Orleans blues and funk into our music culture, will return to the Hollywood Bowl for their last L.A. performance on Wednesday, August 1 at 8PM. This concert highlights their extraordinary global career that has spanned the last 35 years. The evening opens with Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews & his "Supafunkrock" and Louisiana roots-rocker Roddie Romero.
Holding a reputation as first-rank showmen and shamans, The Neville Brothers – Art, Charles, Aaron and Cyril have a trademark of blues-soaked deep funk grooves. Initially, each of the brothers had his own individual music career until the death of their beloved mother Amelia brought them together, forming The Neville Brothers in 1977. Within the next two years they landed their debut album on Capitol. From then until now, the group has stayed together recording, touring and entertaining audiences everywhere. Each of the four brothers have also been pursuing projects of their own; Aaron has forged a highly successful solo career, Art continues to tour with an offshoot group he calls the Funky Meters, Cyril has a new project he recently launched called The Royal Southern Brotherhood and Charles has recorded a series of critically acclaimed jazz records.
Since the release of their Grammy-nominated 2010 debut album, Backatown, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue (TSOA) have been continuously growing and reaching new fans performing nonstop in North America, the U.K., Brazil, Japan, Europe and Australia. Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews, the lead of the group, is recognized for his musical versatility and performances across a broad spectrum.
Roddie Romero & the Hub City All-Stars is a Grammy-nominated band that has been performing worldwide at prestigious festivals and venues for over 20 years. The band is renowned not only for their authentic traditional Cajun and Creole music indigenous to South Louisiana, but also their original songwriting that stays true to Louisiana inspirations.
