Hollywood's legendary El Capitan Theatre is offering "Pirates" pleasures galore, including set pieces, props and costumes from Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films' new epic adventure, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," in Disney Digital 3DTM and RealDTM 3D, during its special engagement from May 20th through June 22nd, it was announced today by Lylle Breier, senior vice president of worldwide special events for Disney.

The latest installment in the phenomenally successful "Pirates of the Caribbean" series opens at the El Capitan on Tuesday May 19th at 9:00 a.m with a special "Pirates Marathon" where guests can see "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl," "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," and then "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides." This special marathon includes concessions, meals and much more. For marathon tickets, call 1-818-845-3110. Regular performances begin on May 20th.

The El Capitan Theatre enhances the experience with a fantastic display of items actually used in the making of "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides." Among the items are ornate props, elaborate costumes worn by the cast, and set pieces from the film itself.

Breier said, "The El Capitan Theatre is once again official Pirates Headquarters, and there is no better place to experience the latest installment of this incredible series, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.' Moviegoers can immerse themselves in pirate lore and see lots of authentic items used in the making of this epic new motion picture adventure."

The El Capitan will also commemorate the opening of "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" by offering each guest, while supplies last, a soft drawstring bag containing two "Pieces of Eight" tribute coins sponsored by Goldline International. These collectible alloy coins, designed exclusively by Disney for the El Capitan showings, have a look reminiscent of coins common to the period depicted in the film.

In addition, Goldline International is giving away four authentic 18th century Mexican 8 Escudo gold coins to lucky El Capitan guests attending Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" film during its four-week engagement.

Three of these historic gold coins have an estimated retail value in excess of $2,000 and one (to be given away the final week) is an authentic 1787 Mexican 8 Escudo gold coin with an estimated retail value of approximately $2,800. The coin has been encased in a sonically sealed coin holder by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) to ensure its authenticity and condition.

Each week, the El Capitan will randomly select one showing of the film, and at that showing, the lucky recipient of a coin will be identified before the show begins.

We are proud to join with the El Capitan Theatre in honoring the ‘Pirates' debut with these exciting giveaways," said Scott Carter, Chief Executive Officer of Goldline. "The historic 8 Escudo coins that will be given away match the time period of the film perfectly and have considerable value as physicAl Gold coins, adding to the excitement to this exclusive run."

The film screens daily at 9:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 8:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased at the El Capitan box office (6838 Hollywood Blvd.), online at www.elcapitantickets.com, or by calling 1-800-DISNEY6. Special group-rate tickets for parties of 20 or more are available by calling 1-818-845-3110.

ABOUT THE MOVIE

Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Rob Marshall, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" captures the fun, excitement and humor that ignited the hit franchise-this time in Disney Digital 3DTM. Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in this action-packed adventure that finds him crossing paths (and swords) with the enigmatic Angelica (Penélope Cruz). When she forces him aboard the "Queen Anne's Revenge," the ship of the legendary pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected journey to the fabled Fountain of Youth. Along the way Jack must use all his wiles to deal with the barbarous Blackbeard and his crew of zombies, Angelica, the ravishing pirate with whom he shares a dubious past, and the beautiful, enchanting mermaids whose masterful cunning can lure even the most seasoned sailor to his doom. The international cast includes franchise vets Geoffrey Rush as the indestructible Captain Hector Barbossa and Kevin R. McNally as Captain Jack's longtime comrade Joshamee Gibbs, plus Sam Claflin as a stalwart missionary and Astrid Bergès-Frisbey as a mysterious mermaid.

Walt Disney Pictures' and Jerry Bruckheimer Films' "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" opens in theaters May 20, 2011, in Disney Digital 3DTM, with screen story and screenplay by Ted Elliott & Terry Rossio, based on characters created by Ted Elliott & Terry Rossio and Stuart Beattie and Jay Wolpert, and suggested by the novel by Tim Powers.
