Single tickets for the 2009/10 season at Walt Disney Concert Hall are on sale beginning Sunday, August 23.
The 2009/10 winter season includes presentations of classical music by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, under Music Director Gustavo Dudamel, as well as chamber music, recitals, new music, jazz, world music, holiday and youth concerts. The Los Angeles Philharmonic embarks upon their inaugural season with Music Director Gustavo DudaMel Beginning with the 2009/10 season. In addition to an unprecedented number of commissions and premieres, the season features two major multidisciplinary festivals: "West Coast:Left Coast" celebrates California's distinct musical culture, curated by newly appointed Los Angeles Philharmonic Creative Chair John Adams,; "Americas and Americans," curated by Dudamel, explores the musical traditions and shared cultural experiences across North and South America.Other 2009/10 season highlights include the U.S. premiere of Andriessen opera La Commedia and residency by composer Thomas Adès. On Location artist, pianist Emanuel Ax, celebrates the bicentennials of Robert Schumann and Frédéric Chopin, and performs new works from composers Peter Lieberson, Osvaldo Golijov and John Adams. The Jazz Series features Ramsey Lewis, Ann Hampton Callaway, Al Jarreau, Sonny Rollins and more. The World Music series features celebrated jazz bassist Charlie Haden, Brazilian singer Maria Rita and Hawaii's multi-talented performer Keali'I Reichel, as well as Kayhan Kalhor and Hoeesein Alizadeh for "Masters of Persian Music." The Songbook series welcomes Kris Kristofferson, Herb Alpert and Lani Hall, and Patti LuPone, and hometown rockers Airborne Toxic Event make their venue debut.
